Five For Friday! (or Saturday!!)

Hello! I know, I know, it is definitely Saturday but it just wasn't going to happen on Friday! I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky party!

So if you've read some of my other posts, you'll know that my hubs (Corbin, aka Corb, Corby, Corbster, Corby-cuteness) and I have been remodeling our house. Long story short, it was a 1970's hot mess! It's been so much fun!  I know that I am a very lucky girl. Corbster is able to do anything! He just figures it all out and everything comes out so nice. I like picking out all the pretty things :)
Well, I'm doing my first project. Yep, that means all by myself! We have this U.G.L.Y. kitchen table, but it's solid wood and I thought "I can re-do this!!". I mean surely I've watched enough DIY shows (my fave right now is Fixer Upper! I just looove Chip and Joanna!) So this is what I've been up to this week. Lots and lots of sanding, and priming. Hoping to get it painted early next week!

I just started my professional reading for the summer, CHAMPS. We will read it through the school year and have a course on it, but I like to get ahead of the game and start implementing new ideas at the beginning of the school year. I've been told that one of my strengths is classroom management, but I am super excited to learn more and implement some new things into my classroom. Our school is a PBIS school and has been developing management plans for those loose structured environments like hallways and recess. Has anyone read this already? I've been told "it's the best".

Let me tell you, we got a TON of rain this week. And it all came at once.....

In order to get through the week, I have to plan our meals. This is just what I use to display our meals for Corb. He likes to see what's for supper for the week :) Plus this helps with my spending at the grocery!

We're heading up to Cleveland to see our dear friends this weekend! They got married last October and just bought their first home. We looove this couple and are so excited to spend the weekend with them! :)
Have a fabulous weekend!

In other news.......I received my first Stitch Fix!!!! Let me tell you all about Stitch Fix! It is an online personal styling service. When you sign up, you fill out a brief survey that acquires your sizes, styles you prefer and items that you would like to avoid. You can also link your Pinterest styleboard to give your stylist more info! So then, for a $20 styling fee, a personal stylist will select 5 pieces for you!

Next, the items are delivered to your door for FREE. The best part is that you try all the items on in the comfort of your own home. You can pair the pieces you receive with items you already have in your closet, along with your own accessories! Keep the items you want, and simply send the others back in the pre-addressed envelope. By the way.....returns are FREE! You are only billed for the pieces that you keep. The $20 styling fee is applied to the items you keep!

Now, lets get into all the goodies!!
My first piece was the gorgeous necklace!

This top was my second piece.

I fell in love with this blouse as soon as I pulled it out!

My fourth piece! I do love maxis!

And my last piece. It's a pink and tan...I know it's a bit hard to see!

I loved all of the colors of each piece of clothing. I felt that all of them were things that I would definitely wear. Now it was time to try them on......!!

So this green top had a super cute pattern but was not flattering on my body type. The top was super loose and there was this band across the bottom that I didn't care for.
I was super sad to see that this darling orange blouse was a bit too long for me :(

The cutesy skirt was too long and a bit too clingy on my bottom to wear to school!

This next dress I loved but I already have a chevron maxi dress, plus it was a bit long.... so I couldn't let myself spend $88 on this dress! I am however keeping the gorgeous necklace!!

P.S. Don't mind the yucky brown baseboard and blue carpet.(gag!).....we're in the middle of remodeling! :)

All in all, I feel like this was definitely a success! If I can get at least one great piece out of every fix then I am on my way to a fabulous wardrobe! My next stitch will be here
 in July!!

Have a fabulous week!

Five For Friday

We are leaving tonight to head back to the great Ohio! We've have a wonderful time in Hilton Head, but I am always excited to get back to my own house and my own bed! Plus, I have all kinds of fun ideas planned since it's summer!! Our last day in Hilton Head will be full of jet skis and pool time! Corbin and I rent jet skis on every vacation....we should really think about investing in our own!

I am excited to be linking up with Doodlebugs Teaching for the Five for Friday linky party! My post won't really be school related as I've been on vacation all week!

So, Monday was my day to cook dinner for the family on our vacation. I made these cookies for dessert. I like to think they are a "healthier" cookie than your typical chocolate chip (or maybe we just tell ourselves that so we don't feel bad for eating soooo many!!) Any who, these really are fabulous if you're looking for a new recipe!

Reese's Pieces Monster Cookies
3 eggs
1 stick of butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
4  1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. peanut butter
12 oz. Reese's pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream eggs, butter and sugars. Add peanut butter and mix until creamy. Add baking soda and gradually add oatmeal. Fold in Reese's pieces. (***The consistency will look like the picture above! )
Lightly spray cookie sheet with Pam.
Bake for ten minutes. Let cookies cool  before you try to remove them from the pan.
Enjoy your "healthier" snack! :)

This is my adorable niece Aliya and I on the pier at Harbour Town. She is quite the cutie and has been a hoot this vacation. She is at the perfect age! She is only one of my 10 nieces and nephews!

My stitch fix is scheduled to be at my house on MONDAY!! I am sooo very excited!

Would you like me to post pics of the outfits I receive?!

Sorry to keep posting pics of my darling nieces and nephews but I just can't help it! This is little Zackory! Probably the happiest baby I've ever met!  He was such a big boy floating around in the pool!

Lastly, I thought I'd share a pic of me and the hubs. This picture was taken last night at Harbour Town. We were watching a dolphin from the pier and the little ones were sooo intrigued! Ah who am I kidding, even the adults were excited!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend and I promise to get back to the teacher stuff next week!  :)

Let's Talk About Books Linky

Today, I am writing you from the balcony of my condo in Hilton Head. It's about 9 a.m. and I 'm sitting here with my Starbucks, (grande iced coffee with 2% and vanilla.....fabulous and not a ton of calories!) my laptop and the sunshine. Life is good!

I am linking up with Mrs. Jump's Class today for her Let's Talk About Books Linky!

I was thinking about a book that I wanted to share with you and as I begin preparing for the beginning of the year, I turn to a book that helped shape our classroom community this past school year.

Have you read this story?
My kids could not get enough of it and it's real life connections. I think about Deanna's post today about rereading for a deeper meaning and we did just that. My students even engaged in a conversation about why he was acting like that in the first place (the root of the problem!!).
Some of their answers were; "maybe his mom and dad are not nice", "maybe he thought he wouldn't have any friends", "maybe he did it for attention", "maybe he was scared about school".
Kids are so inquisitive!

If you haven't read this story, Llama llama and his friends have trouble enjoying their day at school because Gilroy Goat is not making good choices. He laughs at the students during circle time, and makes fun of Llama llama when he tries to sing.

The teacher tries to stop the inappropriate behavior but Gilroy continues anyway.

Finally, as the poor choices continue at recess, Llama llama calls Gilroy a "Bully Goat!!"

Gilroy realizes that his actions were hurting others and decides to treat others kindly and make friends!

If you don't have a copy of this book, you need to snatch it up before the beginning of next school year! Can't wait to read about all the wonderful books today! Have a fabulous day!
I'm heading to the beach :)
