Book Talk Tuesday

Hi there!
Is it really only Tuesday? Oh dear. I'm exhausted. My two classes are worlds apart this year which is resulting in just a tiny bit of stress :) They really are a bunch of sweeties though and I am so grateful to be their teacher! Today, I am linking up with Deanna Jump at Mrs. Jump's class for Book Talk Tuesday Linky!

This week we have been talking about bullies. Awhile back I shared about the story Llama Llama and the Bully Goat. I love this story and you can read about it here. The story I am sharing with you today is Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns About Bullies.
Howard B. Wigglebottom Author Howard Binkow

Howard is bullied by the Snorton Twins. He tries different strategies like ignoring, avoiding, and making jokes to solve the problem, but non of them seem to work. Finally, Howard gets the courage to tell the teacher.  She makes Howard feel safe and the stops the bullying!
This book along with Llama Llama and the Bully Goat, have been awesome, age-appropriate books to explore the topic of bullying with my little ones. They can relate to the stories so well since they both take place at school. We are currently talking about ways to keep bullies out of our classroom. We've also decided to use the saying, "Be Brave, Be Bold, A Teacher Must Be Told!"
Also, there is an interactive version online! You can find that here
Have a fabulous week! :)

Five For Friday! Yes, I'm still alive!

Hello my long lost blogging friends!
It's been a couple weeks since my last post! Back to school has been busy, busy, busy!
School is definitely settling in, yet I don't seem to be any less busy (insert long sigh here). With that being said, I have some amazing kids this year and am really enjoying my time with them!  Today I am  linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky party!

Where shall I begin?!

Let's start with my classroom! I've been in school for a little over a month and haven't got around to posting classroom pics until now.
****Warning, there are a TON of pics in this post. So sorry!

Literacy stations are moving along quite nicely! My students are almost completely independent (woohoo!)!
Here's a couple of pics of what we've been up to this past week.

I have been sooo impressed with my kids during Writing Workshop! Last year we started using Lucy Calkin's Pathways to the Common Core writing program. The program is great and my kids have really taken ownership of their work and they LOVE when it's time for Writing Workshop!
Here they are in action!

"We are having a party. I am having fun!"

"My family is outside".

My dear friend Nicole just had her first baby! I went for a visit last Friday night! She is way too precious :)

For those of you who have been following my blog, you know that we have been in the middle of some pretty big renovations! We've been working on our kitchen and floors throughout the house. My husband seriously is the best. He works so hard and puts up with my "rare" unpleasantness about the mess!

Needless to say, I am sooo excited about our progress! AND I've actually helped quite a bit with the floor. :)

It's still in progress....we still need to put up baseboard trim and finish some other small little projects but I have a working kitchen and it's PRETTY too! :)

That's all for today!
I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

September Currently!

Hi there!!
Today I am linking up with Farley for her Currently linky!
 Who doesn't love this linky?!

Listening:  I adore country music. :) It doesn't get any better!

Loving: Our house has been a hot mess lately as hubs has been working his tail off to make it beautiful for me. I may get a little upset about the messes but  I can't be mad because he is doing a fabulous job and is installing our new flooring throughout the house! Not an easy job!!

Thinking: Is there ever a time that I don't have something to get done for school!?

Wanting: Can't wait for my next Stitch Fix! No literally, I need to yesterday :)

Needing: Oh dear....and we had pizza for dinner. Oops! #sorryimnotsorry

3 trips: Can't wait for 2015! I have 3 trips that I am way too excited for!
1. RCA in January! If you don't know what that is, then you probably shouldn't go!
2. Hobbs Family Vacay, not sure where we're going but it's my family's summer for our vacation!
3. Corbin and I will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary. We are planning an all inclusive trip somewhere. I'm thinking Bahamas, or St. Lucia. Any suggestions?!

Have a fabulous week!!
