All I Want For Black Friday!

Hi Friends!!
Can you believe we're just days away from Thanksgiving and Black Friday?!   Eeeeeek! The shopping, the deals, the music, the pumpkin and peppermint, the CHEER!! It just seems like everyone is so happy this time of year and that of course makes me smile. Of course, this time of year always encourages me to sit back (with my pumpkin or peppermint coffee treat of course) and reflect on all that I'm thankful for. I'm so grateful for my family, friends, and all the little things that I take for granted on a daily basis. Of course my students are at the top of the list too. I am beyond lucky to spend my days with five and six year olds. My heart is full when we're getting our learn on. I am thankful for the amazing people that are a part of The Primary Pack. If I ever need a dash of inspiration, I have a group of amazing educators that I can turn to. To celebrate the season, The Primary Pack is hosting our 2nd Annual Black Friday Linky! There is no word yet if there will be a TPT sale, but regardless, we are sharing a few of our most wish-listed items from our personal wishlist, our carts and our own stores. We are also hosting a HUGE, and I mean HUGE Black Friday giveaway! You don't want to miss it!!
Oh there are so many things that I love about the season, but seriously did I mention the deals...and the shopping?!
Here is my personal wishlist for the season!

Sam Edelman Boots: I am known for my great love of boots. Honestly, you can never have too many (I refuse to say how many I have) and the sales are the perfect excuse!

Ohio State Jersey: Basically I've been wearing my current jersey since my sophomore year of college...I'd say it's about time.

Alex & Ani: As of this summer (in Vegas may I add) I've become an Alex & Ani junky! I've been building up my collection and have been drooling over the Positive Is How I Live bracelet.

Robot Vacuum: We have really dark floors which I love but they are ridiculously hard to keep clean. EVERYTHING shows up. It sure would be nice to come home to floors that are always clean. If I can't get a house cleaner, I feel like this is the next best thing! We've been looking at the Roomba and Neato. Suggestions?!

Clothes: I am always happy to get new clothes! ALWAYS. Banana Republic and Express are some of my favorite stores....along with a handful of others. I could go on and on, but I won't do that to you.

I'm ready to fill my cart with some awesome resources this holiday season. Here are some of the products that are currently on my wishlist!!

Holidays Print and Go: This pack is full of math and literacy activities that are ready to go! We get busy during the month of December with assessments, so this will be perfect to have some fun resources on hand!

Comprehension Mini's: Oh my goodness! Can't wait to use this resource to practice reading comprehension! This pack is perfection, and I NEED it.

Non-Fiction and Science Units: I am always looking for new ways to integrate science in my classroom and this covers topics for the entire year!

Write the Room Bundle: My kids LOVE write the room. This pack has 4 differentiated response sheets to meet the needs of all of my kids!

Monthly Math Journal Bundle: I am a big believer in problem solving math notebooks in the classroom. I've been looking for something for my higher learners and this bundle is just what I need.

Close Reading Bundle: This is the first year I've really had the time to do close reads in my classroom since we transitioned to
all-day /every day kindergarten. Love how the lesson plans are all ready to go in this bundle.

Here are a few products to check out from my Teachers Pay Teachers store, A Smiling Teacher.

Writing Stations Bundle: This product contains all of my monthly writing stations. SAVE by buying the bundle!!

Math Word Wall Cards: This product continues to be my best selling product! Everything you need to start using a math word wall in your classroom. Common Core aligned!

American Symbols & President's Day: This is one of my best sellers! It contains 14 picture/vocabulary cards, writing prompts, sight word reader and MORE!

Well Hello There Turkeys!

Hi Friends!
Happy Thursday!
I can't even believe we are officially two weeks away from Thanksgiving. We've been so busy getting our learn on in kindergarten that I've just lost track of time. I'm so pleased with the progress my kinders have made so far.  We have had a lot of changes this year but the biggest change has been our transition to all-day/every day kindergarten. In the past we've had half day, then we went to rotating full days and then 2 full days and a half day a week. Whew...glad that's all over. Its been quite different this year but overall the transition has been amazing. I honestly don't know how we did it before. It was always rush, rush, rush. I'm just so excited that we finally have time to let them develop their learning at a "more" appropriate pace. In all honesty though, it still feels like there isn't enough time. When I sit back and really think about the amount of time that these kids are focused and on task, I can't help but feel ashamed for redirecting those few little hiccups during the day. I mean I can't really blame them. We expect so, so much of these little ones. Kids are truly amazing. Especially those sweet five year olds that work harder than anyone I know.  All but a couple of my students have their letters and sounds mastered...and it's the beginning of November. Their writing is leaps and bounds ahead of where its ever been at this point of the year, AND they are all readers. Real readers.
 That makes me smile.

Of course like everyone else we've been obsessed with turkey's since November 1st. Obsessed isn't even an exaggeration. We love turkeys. We've been getting our turkey fix during math stations for sure.
Our pattern blocks have been put to good use creating one of a kind turkeys! Students have to arrange the blocks, trace and color. Of course there is some counting thrown in there too!
They've been loving this station.

Isn't his turkey just adorable?!
You can grab it for free here

We've also been chugging along with counting. Practice, practice and more practice makes really great counters! My kids love putting the links on the turkeys. This station is great because not only does it help build number sense, it also supports those kiddos that need to strengthen their motor skills.

Many of my students are working on building larger numbers so I made three levels to support all of their needs.
Level One: 1-20
Level Two: 11-30
Level Three: 21-40

You can get all 3 levels of this station here. You can also try level one out for free below!

I hope you find these resources helpful!
I'd love to see pictures of them in action in your classroom!
Have a fabulous week!!

Blog Name Reveal & Giveaway!!!

When Gina and I agreed to be roommates for this summer’s TpT Conference less than a year ago, we didn’t know we’d be leaving Vegas with a new best friend. When The Primary Pack launched last October, we found ourselves surrounded by passionate, like-minded teacher bloggers who wanted to share their love of teaching with others around the world. All thirty of us collaborated together, and began to form bonds with new teachers that we had never met face to face before. The collaboration and ideas that were springing from a group of people whose only interaction was on the internet, was in many ways more inspiring and energizing than any in-person teacher connections.
So when Teachers Pay Teachers announced the dates of their summer conference in Las Vegas, it was a no-brainer that many of us would choose to room with someone who they had only “met” in this online world. Gina and I decided to be roommates, and began to chat occasionally regarding the conference and hotel, but it wasn’t until the conference was right around the corner that we started to talk all the time. We quickly began to see how similar we were, and couldn’t wait to finally meet in person in July.
Meeting in Las Vegas for the first time was like seeing an old friend that you hadn’t seen in years. We became inseparable from the moment we met in the hotel lobby, and became closer and closer as the conference went on. No one would have known that just a few days before, we had never met in person! We kept joking that we were the same person, and we really were just two peas in a pod!
{Here we are with Erin Cobb from Lovin' Lit wearing our matching jean jackets as usual!}
Gina and I share the same passion for our kindergarten classes, our blogs, and bettering ourselves as teachers. It is so refreshing to find a best friend who is not only constantly inspiring you as an educator, but as a person as well.
After our trip to Vegas, we decided to transform our blogs to better represent us as teachers. We bounced tons of ideas off of each other, and finally came up with new “brands” that really capture our personalities. We are SO excited to reveal our new names to you!
With the launch of our new blog names, we want to celebrate our story with you and YOUR teacher bestie! Here’s how you can help spread the joy of having an amazing teacher friend that you just couldn’t live without:

Join us on Instagram to share a picture of you and your best teaching friend using the hashtag #teacherbesties

Celebrate with us by entering to win one of the following prizes from some of our favorites!

Don’t forget to let your teacher bestie know how much you appreciate them by sharing this post with them on Facebook for them to check out too!

To enter our BIG giveaway, you need to head over to THE PRIMARY PACK first! As you "hop" through each of our blogs, you will collect a letter from each of us… 28 total. Those letters spell out a secret code that you need to enter our BIG giveaway! You will use the secret code to enter the rafflecoptor on The Primary Pack at the end of the hop.
You need to collect the letters from us IN ORDER, so please make sure that you start from the beginning of our hop. Click on the button below to head over to THE PRIMARY PACK and start our BACK TO SCHOOL BASH!!

Let the fun begin!

My first tip is to sign up for Instant Ink RIGHT NOW!! Seriously, what are you waiting for?! Everyone's doing it (seriously, everyone in my school is learning about it and couldn't be more excited)!! You will save sooooooo much money! I pay $5 a month to be able to print 100 pages. You do the math....yep $60 a year! I used to spend that on one trip for ink! HP monitors my ink and sends me new ink before I even run out! This means that I don't have to run to the store at 10 P.M. because my printer ran out of cyan! In all honesty, Instant Ink has saved me so much money and has allowed me to not worry about the amount of ink I'm using. As a result, I can print as much as I need for my kids!

My second tip is to buy a paper cutter. I actually have two. One for school and one for home. I bought them when they were 40-50% off at Joann's and they have been my best friends from during the school year. I'm not sure why, but I am a horrible cutter. I couldn't cut in a straight line if my life depended on it. Not to mention it just takes too much concentration and time. Since I teach kindergarten, I consistently have piles of things that need cut out and my paper cutters allow me to do that in a timely manner! Plus they have that wire line so I can make sure every thing is straight! :)

My last tip is to sign up for bloomz! Basically it's like Remind on steroids! You can do everything that you can do on Remind and so much more! You can share pictures, share announcements, schedule parent-teacher conferences, send group messages, send individual messages....I mean the list goes on and on. I have always used Remind in the past but Bloomz now allows me to do everything in one place. I used Sign Up Genius for conferences, Remind for reminder text messages and email for sending random pics of the kids. Who has that kind of time?! bloomz gives you a little bit of time back and allows you to take care of all of those things in one place.
I'm sold!
If you're interested in signing up for bloomz, I hope you'll consider using my referral link here!

Be sure to collect all the letters from our hop so that you can enter to win...

I seriously need one of these in my own life!
I'm also having a giveaway!

Oh, Snap! It's almost August!

Hi Friends!
I'm linking up with the Teacher Deals and Dollar Steals linky!
Honestly, this picture couldn't say it better, right?!
How is it almost August??

I have been busy prepping for back to school and trying to get my math stations in order.
One of my students' favorite math stations is the measuring station. I completely updated my Magnificent Measurement pack!

It it appropriate for up to two months in a math station or tub (August/September). The measuring mats are filled with fun, back to school items!

It is so important that students begin exploring measurement at an early age and have access to different manipulatives to do so.

My pack includes 20 measuring mats, with arrows to show the students how to measure (length/height).

The recording sheets support measuring with 3 different units (unifiix cubes, bears, and a ruler for inches) so that you can choose what is best for your kids!

The unifix cubes are great for students just learning about measurement. I always start the year off using the unifix cubes with my kinders!

Later on, some of my students are ready to begin using a different unit of measurement. I move those students on to using the bears. The bears are more tricky to manipulate because they only have one flat side and they don't line up as neatly.

Every year I have students who have already had many experiences with measuring using non-standard units of measurement. It is so important that those students are able to further their learning too. The inches recording sheet is perfect for those who are just beginning to learn how to use a ruler.

You can grab this pack on sale today through Friday, July 17th for $3.00!
AND
Be sure to check out the linky and stock up on all the great deals!

Have a HAPPY week!

Viva Las Vegas! TPT Conference!

Hi Friends!
I can't believe I'm already writing to tell you about the Teachers Pay Teachers Conference in Las Vegas! The time came and went so quickly! But I am so grateful to have had an amazing few days to learn and spend time with so many wonderful people! I've linked up with the Elementary Entourage to share a little about my experience!

I arrived in Vegas on Wednesday morning and was greeted by my sweet friend Elyse from A is for Apples, and  then spent some time at the pool with Ashley from One Sharp Bunch and Gina from Miss. Peluso's Kindergarten! They are all in The Primary Pack with me, so it was so nice to meet them in person!

My roomie for the trip was Gina from Miss. Peluso's Kindergarten!

We went to dinner and the BIG blogger meet up later that evening. When I say BIG blogger meet up, I mean BIG. Like 1,000 people BIG.
It was a bit overwhelming.
I was so grateful to have these ladies by my side during the whole thing!

However, I went to bed feeling like, "Oh my goodness, what did I get myself into?!"
I was hoping that I would wake up on Thursday feeling refreshed and not so "overwhelmed!"

Guess what?!
That's exactly what happened!
Thursday was a lot easier.
The crowds were smaller and the conversations came much easier. I'm going to blame Wednesday on jet lag and that 3 hour time change!

I was so excited to meet some of the other bloggers that I've followed forever!
Here I am with Hadar from Miss. Kindergarten and Maria from Kinder Craze

And then there was Caitlin from Kindergarten Smiles and Mary from  Sharing Kindergarten

I was so excited to meet Tara West from Little Minds at Work!

And, Kristin from A Teeny Tiny Teacher!

We had so much fun during the "bonus" networking time! It was so much easier to engage in real conversations during this time because we were grouped by grade level. There was a much smaller crowd and more opportunities to talk with everyone!

I was so, so, so excited to meet Jennifer from First Grade Blue Skies. She is just as nice in person as she is online! I loved how humble she was with her success. Her story of hard work really touched me, and I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend time getting to know her. I seriously cannot say enough good things about her!
I mean she asked to take a selfie with us...
I mean come on!

Oh and I don't want to forget about our friend Meg from A New box Of Crayons! She wasn't able to come to the conference...so I made a Meg-on-a-stick!
Meg had a lot of fun! She's hanging out with Alisha from Missing Tooth Grins and I during one of the sessions!

Gina and I had a few minutes between sessions to run up a few floors and visit the SDE booths!

On Thursday night, a bunch of us gals from The Primary Pack went out for dinner and then got together to stuff swag bags for our meet up on Friday!
If you're not sure what swag bags are, you can read my definition below:

Swag bags:  giveaway bags that are full of all kinds of goodies! (ps. I'd never heard this term til Vegas!)

On Friday morning...I struggled.
I was tired.
BUT, I powered through and drank so, so, so much coffee.
You do what you gotta do!

We started the morning off by hearing from Amy, Adam and Paul from TPT. We also heard from Rachel Lynette. It was so fun to how she got started with TPT and how it has changed her life!
Of course I sat with some of the ladies from The Primary Pack
I can't even believe how the five of us pictured below, just clicked. It was so easy and was like we had known each other for years. We had been working together on The Primary Pack for a year but did not meet until Vegas. It made my heart so happy to spend time with people who have the same passions and goals as myself!
They seriously are the best!

AND we may have got matching Alex and Ani bracelets!
One for teaching, and one to remember our amazing trip to Vegas!

After the keynote, we jumped right into our sessions for that day.
We had a full day.
One of my favorite sessions was "From Teacher to Teacherpreneur" by Erin Cobb from Lovin' Lit.
She said so many things that I needed to hear.
I've always looked at TPT as a fun, creative outlet (and it is). But she talked about how you have to think of it as a business too. I'm not quite there yet, because my brain doesn't operate like that.
But I'm giving it a try!
She was also so sweet to give us all planners that she made to help keep us on track and organized!

On Friday night, we held The Primary Pack Meet Up in the Bourbon Room!
We had an amazing turn out!
Be sure to check out all the photos at #primarypackkickback

We are so thankful to all of the bloggers that came! You all surpassed our expectations and we hope that you had a fabulous time!!
We are also so grateful to all of the companies and individuals that donated for our giveaways!
We had a ton of things to give away because of you!!

Our delicious cookies were quite the hit!
#nomnomnom

After a fun night at the meet up, we headed out the strip.
We hadn't been outside in 2 days.
It was just what we needed before heading home!

We had such a great trip and I'm missing all of my friends already!
Be sure to check out the Elementary Entourage and see all of the other bloggers that linked up!

Have a great week!!
